Income insurance that you own.

Ownward is portable severance protection built around you—not your employer. If you're involuntarily terminated, it's designed to provide six months of covered pay while you decide what comes next.

It stays private and moves with you from job to job.

How it works

Six months to find your next move—not just your next paycheck.

Ownward is employee-owned severance protection. You maintain coverage while you're working. If your employment ends involuntarily, Ownward is designed to provide six months of covered pay.

Your protection belongs to you, stays private and follows you throughout your career.

Protection that fits your life

Choose how much of your income you want to protect. Your coverage and premium are established while you're employed, so you know what you can expect before anything happens.

Every Ownward policy is designed around the same promise: six months of covered pay following an eligible involuntary termination.

Pricing based on your employment history, not employer generosity.

Your premium reflects factors connected to employment risk, such as your industry, role, tenure, employment history and selected coverage.

We use this information to price protection responsibly and keep the system sustainable for everyone.

Share more. Potentially pay less.

You can choose to share information such as performance reviews, promotions or employment milestones. Strong performance information may qualify you for a lower premium.

Information shared through this program will never be used to raise your price. Participation is always optional and never detrimental to your plan.

One protection. Every job.

Ownward belongs to you, not your employer. When you change jobs, your protection moves with you—without starting over from zero.

You may need to update your employment details, and your price may change to reflect the new role, but your Ownward history continues. More employment history only helps.

Your coverage is your business

Your employer does not need to sponsor Ownward, approve your coverage or know that you have it.

We do not disclose your enrollment, coverage selections, performance information or claims activity to your employer without your explicit permission.

A clear trigger. A defined benefit.

If your employer ends your employment through an eligible layoff or termination without cause, you submit documentation through Ownward. Once the claim is approved, your severance benefit begins.

Voluntary resignations would not be covered. However, all involuntary termination types will be covered, no matter what your employer decides to call it. Final eligibility will always be governed by the policy terms.

Time to move forward on your terms

Severance can create room to search thoughtfully, protect your household and avoid accepting the first available job out of financial necessity.

Ownward is designed to give more employees that room—regardless of whether their employer offers severance.

Once an eligible claim is approved, returning to work does not reduce the benefit you qualified for. Take the right opportunity when it arrives.
